I swear!
College is INSANE.
But I love it.

Since my last journal rant...
"The Group" had now self-upgraded their title to the "BU crew". And the only time they've talked to me since the end of Thanksgiving break was yesterday because they needed to borrow my mallet.
Yes, I have a mallet in my room. Its actually quite useful.
RoomieAnyways. Enough about that.
The roomie that I was closest to has moved out for the duration of the year; she's taking J-Term and Spring Semester off to go do missions work in Japan. This wasn't even on her radar at the beginning of the year, but she felt called to go do this, and we have supported her every step of the way. We will miss her dearly, but we'll see her next year

RoomIn her absence, we (meaning I) have rearranged the room. I got back a day before my other roommate did; she had the flu

But, it made things easier - basically I could do whatever I wanted to the room, fix it, and she'd never really know. Sooo I kinda did. Me, a floormate, and my man removed the lower bunk on my bed (where the roomie that is going to Japan slept), and moved my desk and dresser underneath. Our room feels HUGE now. Its crazy.
InterimJ-Term=NO SLEEP.
Normally classes are Monday/Wednesday/Friday, and then others are on Tuesday/Thursday. But because J-Term (also called "interim", I may use this interchangeably) is so short, you have one class every day of the week.
I'm taking a bookmaking class - we learn about illustrating, binding, and writing books. Our final project is to completely create a children's book. We can use something pre-written (poem, song, etc.), but we have to illustrate and bind them ourselves.
Its lots of fun, and I'm mildly interested in the subject, but mainly I'm taking the class because its a professor that both of my parents had and they learned lots from. It was a "now-or-never" situation, because apparently this is his last year here before retirement.
For my final, I've devided to illustrate Owl City's song "Fireflies". I feel like its the most child-friendly...
or something... not that his other songs are inappropriate (because they're not, and that's one reason I like his music), but its like they're more abstract, and if a child read that, they might be confused and lose interest in the book.SO ANYWAYS. I'm emailing Adam Young (somehow) to ask permission to use his lyrics. Because I feel like its the right thing to do.
And of course, I do all of my best artistic work laaaaate at night. And this class is at 8am. So all week I've been running on an average of 3.5 hours of sleep per night. Yayyy.
(Basically its get up, go to class at 8, get done at 11, derp around on email and Facebook and tumblr until lunch at 12, eat lunch, get back, nap until 3 or 4, start homework, dinner at 5:30, back at 6:30, more homework, few breaks, clean stuff, up until 2:30, sleep, repeat...)
RoomSo, back to my rearranged room. It actually IS larger than other rooms, because its on the corner of the building; its slightly wider and shorter than other rooms, and the closets are in a different spot. Because of this, it has become THE place to be when I hang out with people - we watch movies in here, work out (the school's workout room is full of buff guys lifting weights and stuff. and we're just like... "hey gonna just come in and look like an idiot! nbd!" so we avoid it.), and just talk. Its fantastic. I love my floormates.

Movies we watch: chick flicks and Disney movies. Oh yes.
YAY!SPEAKING OF DISNEY MOVIES.
TANGLED EVER AFTER. BEAUTY AND THE BEAST IN 3D.
OH MY GOSH.
SO EXCITED. LIKE, I HAVE NO WORDS.

Robotics: Rebound Rumble! Also very excited about the robotics game this year! Mostly because of withdrawals. Darn college. But still. They did recycle a lot of ideas form previous games, but eh.

Hopefully I'll get to pop in every once in a while to say hello, check their progress, and whip the new Media members into shape. Namely the freshmen.
Oh lordy, our freshman are terrible. All of the work we went through while I was on the team to get the school to like us and understand that we are different from the other clubs, more "mature"... well, that work is deteriorating. Rapidly. The school was gracious enough to give us the tech lab to use, and instead of firing our head mentor (a teacher at my high school) they just moved some other teachers around (which seems to be working well for them). In the process of moving, the tech lab is mostly unused, so now we have moved some tools in and the place is Media HEAVEN. On steroids. :3
But the freshmen are idiots, and abuse their use of computers, horse around while waiting to be picked up, and they've broken a ceiling tile. An accomplishment, in the hallway with a two-story ceiling.

LifeI have also determined several things about my life; photography IS what I want to do. I'm going to stay at the school I'm at, as opposed to going to an art school or transferring to a different college in general. I'm going to work at least two jobs this summer, to go towards tuition and loans, and give me something to do. I'm going to finally get my driver's license (heh).
Yet for as certain as I've become about these things, there are other things that are less certain. I'm just trusting the Lord to lead me where I'm meant to go.
Holy crap. This is a long journal. If you read ALL of this, thank you for reading my ramblings.

TTFN!
